Poocks Cottage in Oare, near the Devon / Somerset border, is a detached property that has recently been refurbished to a high standard; we are delighted to offer this property for holiday rentals for up to five guests. The cottage is situated in a quiet spot on Exmoor between Porlock and Lynmouth.
Poocks Cottage in Oare (Somerset) sleeps up to 5 people in three upstairs bedrooms; one double, one twin and one single room. The family bathroom is also upstairs comprised of bath with shower attachment, toilet and hand basin. Downstairs is an open-plan kitchen with dining area, this is an extension to the original cottage and benefits from underfloor heating beneath the flagstones. There is a sitting room with an efficient wood-burner for topping up the heat and keeping cosy on cooler evenings, plus a further 'snug' with open-fire. There is also a downstairs bathroom with shower, toilet and hand basin. The property has a private and enclosed garden to the rear of the property with table and chairs for eating outside in the warmer months. Please leave the property clean and tidy so that we can guarantee it will be ready on time for our next guests. Poocks Cottage is available for week breaks during peak periods (Friday to Friday). Short breaks may be available at other times.

The kitchen is fitted with range cooker, fridge, freezer, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine. Other equipment includes toaster, kettle, a variety of cookware, kitchen utensils, cutlery, crockery and glasses. A variety of books, games and jigsaws are provided for your amusement. Please note, there is no TV. Wifi is available for emails (but it is probably not fast enough for streaming TV or films). Please note, Poocks Cottage is situated in a valley on Exmoor therefore mobile phone signal cannot be obtained at the cottage or in the valley, however a landline phone is available. Electricity and heating costs are included in the price of your accommodation. Poocks Cottage has underfloor heating throughout the kitchen and dining area, the rest of the house is heated with electric radiators. There is also a wood-burner in the sitting room, logs are provided. Bed linen, duvets, blankets and towels are provided for your convenience, but please bring your own beach towels if you wish to take them on day trips with you. A small amount of tea, coffee, sugar, milk and biscuits are provided to ensure you can have a hot drink as soon as you arrive. Cleaning materials such as washing up liquid will be present in the property. One or two toilet rolls will be provided.

Poocks Cottage garden is private and enclosed and benefits from a patio and garden furniture. There is off-road parking for two cars directly outside the property, there is also a garage with parking for another car (but not suitable if your car is low to the ground as it has a steep approach). Dogs are welcome by prior arrangement (maximum of 2). A supplementary fee of £15 will be added to your invoice. Please do not allow you dogs on the furniture or upstairs and do not leave them alone in the property at any time.

+ MoreMalmsmead is a hamlet on Exmoor which is approximately 2 miles from Poocks Cottage. There is a lovely homewares/gift shop and the 'Lorna Doone Arms' where you can get a meal, afternoon tea and cake or take-away food. The Lorna Doone Arms is beside the river just beyond the packho...rse bridge in Malmsmead. They are also licensed so you can enjoy a couple of drinks with a meal. Please note that the shop and Lorna Doone Arms is usually closed during the winter. The village of Porlock is approximately 5 miles from Poocks Cottage, it is a traditional Exmoor village and has three pubs, two grocery shops, a traditional local butcher, Post Office, chemist, cash machine, hardware shop, visitor centre and a range of independent restaurants, shops and tea rooms. Lynmouth and Lynton are approx 7 miles in the opposite direction, they have similar amenities and a good selection of cafes and restaurants. Both are well worth a visit.
