Who likes to be beside the sea..?<\/p>\n

There are some wonderful stretches of coast from Exmoor, with various beaches, coves, and gems to explore. Many are dog-friendly, often with walks extending into neighboring ancient woodlands. Walkers, photographers and bird watchers have plenty to keep them coming back to the Exmoor Beaches and coast time and time again. Kids will love the rockpools and wildlife – hunt for shells, fossils or crabs, or perhaps some hidden treasure in a pirates cave…<\/p>\n

Porlock Weir – Beach & Harbour<\/h2>\n

Porlock Weir – clinking sailboats, an island walkway, wizened breakwaters… Its easy to feel like you have stepped back in time so some magical, mystical place down at The Weir. Walk past the harbour to approach this shingle beach from the marsh, or cross the bridge to ‘Turkey Island’ and walk along the shingle ridge. The water is blue and inviting!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Porlock – Bossington Bay<\/h3>\n

Lying at the foot of the hills on the Exmoor Coast, this vast expanse of pebble hugs the flat bowl of land that lies between Bossington Point and Porlock Weir. The huge rise and fall of the Bristol Channel tide make for varied and dramatic viewing.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Minehead beach<\/h3>\n

Minehead beach offers wide, sandy playground at the foot of North Hill. Great for building sandcastles or a good run around. There are a range of seaside activities including; a playground on the esplanade, crazy golf at the Jubilee Cafe, amusement arcades, and take-away fish and chips. Dogs are currently allowed although this may change in the near future (to exclude the middle section of the beach).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Blue Anchor beach<\/h3>\n

A few miles east of Dunster, the small hamlet of Blue Anchor flanks a large beach. Shingle and sand, the shallow gradient makes for a vast expanse of space at low tide. Parking here is easy, and there’s two great little cafe’s as well as toilets available. Be mindful of getting stuck in the mud at low tide. Kilve beach<\/h3>\n

A rocky beach with plenty of rock pools to explore at low tide. A fossil hunt is unlikely to leave you disappointed. A large grassy area behind the beach makes a great spot for a picnic. Dog friendly. See more on Kilve Beach.<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Combe Martin beach<\/h3>\n

Combe Martin beach is mostly shingle and pebble, becoming sandy at the water’s edge. Dogs allowed October to April.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Lynmouth beach<\/h3>\n
\"Exmoor
About 500m wide, Lynmouth Beach is a dog-friendly, shingle beach flanked by high Exmoor cliffs. There are playgrounds, riverside areas and and esplanade to walk along. Our favourite fish and chip shop is here, independent shops and some lovely pubs<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Lee Abbey Beach<\/h3>\n
\"Exmoor
Beyond The Valley of the Rocks, Lee Abbey beach is a family-friendly spot. With a lovely bay for swimming in, the sand is a mixture of rocks and sand (with more sand at low tide). The walk down is quite steep but tarmaced. There are some restrictions on Dogs.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Heddons Mouth<\/h3>\n
\"Exmoor
Park at the National Trust car park next to the Hunter’s Inn and walk\u00a0 down the Heddon River to find this sheltered cove. A restored 19th century lime kiln overlooks the beach. The circular walk is 1.5 miles. Two mobility scooters (trampers) available for hire by calling 01598 763402. The footpath down to Heddon’s Mouth consists of moderately level gravel and is maintained for trampers and pushchairs. Blue Badge parking. Accessible toilet.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
