Fresh air, the great outdoors, and (hopefully!) some fabulous English summer days… There’s nothing quite like it for re-charging on an Exmoor holiday. There are so many beautiful spots to visit and invigorating things to do here, but where to start?? Whether you like to plan ahead or take each day as it comes, it’s handy to have a bit of staycation inspiration, if you ask me… So here are a few ideas for what to do on your next Exmoor summer escape!<\/p>\n

Exmoor Summer Itinerary Day 1: Coastal Gems<\/h3>\n

Morning<\/h4>\n

Head to the coastal hamlet of Porlock Weir<\/a><\/strong> for a leisurely holiday start. You can amble around the harbour or onto the shingle beach (with or without ice cream in hand and before or after morning coffee!). If you’re feeling adventurous, you could even book a boat trip into the bay on ‘Morgan M’<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Afternoon<\/h4>\n

Head out towards the stunningly scenic Valley of the Rocks<\/a><\/strong>. Even the journey there is well worth it – drive up the infamous Porlock Hill out west. The view from the coastal road is incredible – you may see a few Exmoor ponies decorating the landscape too. After a walk or a rocky scramble up to the very highest viewpoints, head back to the villages of Lynmouth<\/a><\/strong> and\u00a0Lynton<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Evening<\/h4>\n

Indulge in some fresh local seafood for dinner – look out for Porlock Weir Oysters<\/a><\/strong> on the menu, literally harvested from the crystal clear waters behind you.\u00a0 There are plenty of options for restaurants in Lynton or Lynmouth or perhaps stop by The Blue Ball or Culbone Inn on route back east.<\/p>\n\t
