Oare Water Cottage in Malmsmead is set in the beautiful part of Exmoor which will forever be known as Lorna Doone Country, made famous by the romantic novel by RD Blackmore; few locations are as idyllic! You'll instantly feel at home at Oare Water Cottage, sleeps up to 6 guests and pet-friendly.
Oare Water Cottage in Malmsmead in the Doone Valley, sleeps up to six people in total. Entry is via the conservatory/boot room, which is an excellent sun trap and the perfect place to enjoy an afternoon cup of tea - even when the weather is not so good! Continue through the kitchen into the large living-dining room, made up of comfortable seating and a dining area with French door leading onto a patio and the garden. There three bedrooms - one double and two twins - and two bathrooms, one with a jacuzzi bath and the other with a shower. Sleeps 6 in three bedrooms (one double and two twin bedrooms) Detached bungalow in a secluded location Delightful views and fabulous Exmoor walks from the doorstep! Dogs are welcome by prior arrangement (absolute maximum of 2). A supplementary fee of £15 per dog will be added to your invoice. Please do not allow your dogs on the furniture and do not leave them alone in the property at any time. Please note, the garden is fenced but we do not guarantee that it is dog-proof. Oare Water Cottage is strictly non-smoking. The property will be ready from 4 pm on the day of your arrival. Please depart by 10 am on the last day of your stay. Please leave the property clean and tidy so that we can guarantee it will be ready on time for our next guests.

The kitchen is well-equipped and fitted with fridge, freezer, microwave, electric oven with ceramic hob, dishwasher and washing machine. Other equipment includes toaster, kettle, a variety of cookware, kitchen utensils, cutlery, crockery and glasses. A television with DVD player is provided in the living room and wifi is available in the property. Please note, Malmsmead is situated in a valley on Exmoor and therefore mobile phone signal cannot be obtained, however Oare Water Cottage has a landline for incoming and emergencies calls. Electricity and heating costs are included in the price of your accommodation. Oare Water Cottage has central heating and radiators are fitted throughout the property. There is a wood-burner in the living room however this not available for guests' to use, sorry. Bed linen, duvets, blankets and towels are provided for your convenience, but please bring your own beach towels if you wish to take towels with you on day trips. A small amount of tea, coffee, sugar, milk and biscuits are provided to ensure you can have a hot drink as soon as you arrive. Cleaning materials such as washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets will be present in the property. One or two toilet rolls will be provided.

Oare Water Cottage has a large garden which is private and enclosed and benefits from a patio and garden furniture. The views from the garden are over the fields towards Oare Water which runs through the bottom of the valley.

+ MoreMalmsmead is a hamlet on Exmoor. There is The Buttery tea room down beside the river just beyond the packhorse bridge which is open from April to October. For meals or a pint beyond Malmsmead, there are two choices within 5-10 minutes in the car; The Staghunters Inn in Brendon a...nd The Rockford Inn. Malmsmead is approximately 7 miles from both Lynton and Porlock. The village of Porlock has three pubs, two grocery shops, a traditional local butcher, Post Office, chemist, cash machine, hardware shop, visitor centre and a range of independent restaurants, shops and tea rooms. Lynton is a small town in the opposite direction and boasts similar amenities, both well worth a visit. Lynton and Lynmouth also has a good selection of cafes, pubs and restaurants. Minehead is approximately 12 miles from the cottage (beyond Porlock). Here you will find larger supermarkets and petrol stations, cash machines, plus a range of other shops, eateries and takeaways throughout the town.
The Buttery tearoom is within walking distance just beyond the packhorse bridge in Malmsmead and is open seasonally. Beyond Malmsmead, there are a couple of choices within 5-10 minutes in the car; The Staghunters Inn in Brendon, and The Rockford Inn.
