Riverside Cottage in Malmsmead (Devon) sleeps 4 guests. There is an entrance hall which leads into an open-plan kitchen, dining and sitting room. On the first floor are two bedrooms - one double room (Queen sized bed) and one twin room - and a bathroom with shower cubicle (please note, there is no bath). Appliances and equipment The kitchen is well-equipped and fitted with dishwasher, fridge, freezer, microwave and electric oven with ceramic hob. There is no washing machine in this property. Other equipment includes toaster, kettle, a variety of kitchen utensils, cutlery, crockery and glasses. A television is provided in the living room. Wifi is available in the property. A cot and/or high chair can be provided, please request these items at the time of booking to make sure they will be present for your stay. Please note, Malmsmead is situated in a valley on Exmoor and therefore mobile phone signal cannot be obtained. Electricity and heating Electricity and heating costs are included in the price of your accommodation. Riverside Cottage has central heating and radiators are fitted throughout the property. Linen and towels Bed linen, duvets, blankets and towels are provided for your convenience, but please bring your own beach towels if you wish to take towels with you on day trips. Please note, bed linen is not provided for the cot. Other provisions A small amount of tea, coffee, sugar, milk and biscuits are provided to ensure you can have a hot drink as soon as you arrive. Cleaning materials such as washing up liquid will be present in the property. One or two toilet rolls will be provided. Outside the property Riverside Cottage in Malmsmeade is situated next door to the Lorna Doone Arms, which is a licensed cafe serving food, drinks and teas. The grassed area in front of the property is used for an outdoor seating area for patrons of the cafe, however a table will be reserved for your use on request. The garden is bordered by the river on one side. When the Lorna Doone Arms closes in the evening and through the winter (October to Easter) the garden will be available for your sole use. Parking Off-road parking is to the rear of the property in the car park. Guests can pull into the drive in front of the cottage to load and unload, but this is also the main entrance to the Lorna Doone Arms so we ask that vehicles are not parked here for long periods of time in the summer season. Dogs Dogs are welcome by prior arrangement (maximum of 2, possibly more by arrangement). A supplementary fee of £15 will be added to your invoice per dog. Please do not allow you dogs on the furniture or upstairs and do not leave them alone in the property at any time. Smoking Riverside Cottage is strictly non-smoking. Arrival and departure The property will be ready from 4 pm on the day of your arrival. Please depart by 10 am on the last day of your stay. Please leave the property clean and tidy so that we can guarantee it will be ready on time for our next guests. Changeover days Riverside Cottage is available for week-long bookings and short breaks. + MoreMalmsmead is a hamlet on Exmoor, however you are be able to purchase essentials (and treats) from the Lorna Doone Arms next door, they also offer a takeaway service and will delivery meals to order. The Lorna Doone Arms is licensed so you can also enjoy a drink with your meal. ... Malmsmead is approximately 7 miles from both Lynton and Porlock. The village of Porlock has three pubs, two grocery shops, a traditional local butcher, Post Office, chemist, cash machine, petrol station, hardware shop, visitor centre and a range of independent restaurants, shops and tea rooms. Lynton is a small town in the opposite direction and boasts similar amenities, both well worth a visit. Minehead is approximately 12 miles from Riverside Cottage. Here you will find the larger supermarkets and petrol stations (Tesco and Morrison's are both situated on the outskirts of the town and have longer opening hours), most major high street banks with cash machines, plus a range of other shops throughout the town.
Lorna Doone Arms is within walking distance just beyond the packhorse bridge in Malmsmead. They serve meals (eat in or take away), teas/coffees and is also licensed so you can enjoy a couple of drinks with a meal too. Please note that they usually close around 5-6 pm though, and is usually closed during the winter season (October to Easter). Beyond Malmsmead, there are a couple of choices within 5-10 minutes in the car; The Staghunters Inn in Brendon, and The Culbone Inn (between Malmsmead and Porlock) which is locally renowned for excellent food. Lynton and Lynmouth also has a good selection of pubs and restaurants (approx 6 miles away).

This is a very smart cottage in an extremely quiet location in the centre of Exmoor, but still not far from the northern Exmoor across road. An excellent location for experiencing Exmoor's famous dark skies.
Stunning location but service and accommodation below standard.
make sure you take food and extra toilet rolls as half hour drive to nearest shop

The cottage is lovely, xmas decorations were a nice superize. It was well equipped, I love that it is not modernised to death like a lot of holiday cottages, still retains the ambiance that a cottage in such a magical unspoiled location should have.
