Dunns Cottage is full of character and the perfect destination for families - or couples requiring more spacious accommodation. Situated in the small hamlet of West Porlock between Porlock Weir and the village of Porlock, Dunns Cottage enjoys outstanding views across open fields towards the sea.
Entrance to Dunns Cottage is via a small porch which leads into the kitchen. The kitchen has all modern facilities with a utility at the far end (with toilet and shower). The spacious sitting room enjoys views towards the coast and is complimented by an adjacent dining room where a telescope is situated to help you see the wonderful array of birds and wildlife on the marshlands of Porlock Bay. Upstairs are two large king-sized double bedrooms and a smaller bedroom containing a small double bed. The upstairs bathroom is comprised of bath, shower and toilet, plus a separate second upstairs toilet with hand basin. Please leave the property clean and tidy so that we can guarantee it will be ready on time for our next guests. Dunns Cottage is available for week breaks (Friday to Friday) during peak periods. Short breaks are available at other times. Dunns Cottage is strictly non-smoking.
Dunns Cottage is fitted with fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, microwave and electric cooker with ceramic hob. Other equipment includes cookware, toaster, kettle, coffee machine, a variety of kitchen utensils, cutlery, crockery and glasses. An iron and ironing board is kept in the property for your convenience, and a hairdryer is provided in each bedroom. The television (with BT Sport - soon changing to Sky package, date not yet confirmed) plus DVD player. There is also a CD player and wireless broadband is available throughout the property. Electricity and heating costs are included in the price of your accommodation. Dunns Cottage benefits from central heating throughout the property, plus a wood-burner in the living room; kindling, matches and one basket of logs will be provided in the cooler months. Additional logs can be purchased from the hardware shop in Porlock. Bed linen, duvets, blankets and towels are provided for your convenience, but please bring your own beach towels if you wish to take towels with you on day trips. A small amount of tea, coffee, sugar, milk and biscuits are provided to ensure you can have a hot drink as soon as you arrive. There may also be other non-perishable items like a salt, pepper and a few herbs or spices available. Cleaning materials such as washing up liquid and surface cleaner will be present in the property. One or two toilet rolls will be provided. A travel cot can be provided Dunns Cottage, please note that bedding is not provided for the cot, please bring your own. There is no high chair available, sorry.
Dunns Cottage has a private garden which is landscaped over two levels behind the property plus two seating areas where beautiful views of Porlock Bay can be enjoyed.
The harbour is the 'centre' of Porlock Weir, which is less than 3/4 mile from Dunns Cottage. There are two restaurants (The Cafe and Miller's at the Anchor), a pub (all three are dog-friendly) and a range of individual shops such as tea rooms, Exmoor Glass, etc. The village o...f Porlock is approximately 1 mile from Dunns Cottage and boasts three pubs, two grocery shops, a traditional local butcher, chemist, cash machine, petrol station, hardware shop, visitor centre and a range of independent shops and tea rooms. Many of the shops in Porlock Weir and Porlock are open during traditional hours of 9 am to 5 pm, although hours are often extended during the summer season. Conversely, some shops also reduce their opening hours out of season. Minehead is the nearest town, approximately 6.5 miles from Dunns Cottage. Here you will find the larger supermarkets and petrol stations (Tesco and Morrison's are both situated on the outskirts of the town and have longer opening hours), most major high street banks with cash machines, plus a range of other shops throughout the town.
