The front garden includes a lawned area, some shrubs and a garden bench. The drive has a gate across which can be closed to enclose the front garden. To the rear is an enclosed and private garden with lawned area and patio with outside table and chairs. A stream runs along the bottom edge of the garden, which has been fenced however children should be supervised at all times. The former garage has been converted into a storage area, so it's not possible to park a car in there (pedestrian door only), but is ideal for secure storage of bikes, pushchairs, and for allowing muddy dogs to dry off before going into the house. From the bungalow, it's a fairly level walk to the village where you will find all the usual village amenities. It's only a short walk (about 50m) to access footpaths leading to the coast and to joing a myriad of routes including to Porlock Weir, Bossington, Selworthy and more!

The region
+ MorePorlock is a wonderful working Exmoor village and boasts three pubs, two grocery shops, a traditional local butcher, chemist, cash machine, hardware shop, visitor centre, several art galleries and a range of independent restaurants, shops and tea rooms. Porlock Weir is approx...imately 1.5 miles from Porlock and is well worth a visit. There are two restaurants (The Cafe and Miller's at the Anchor), a pub (all three are dog-friendly) and a range of individual shops such as tea rooms, Exmoor Glass and Studio 7 (imported beautiful textiles). Many of the shops in Porlock and Porlock Weir are open during traditional hours of 9 am to 5 pm, although hours are often extended during the summer season. Conversely, some shops also reduce their opening hours out of season. Minehead is the nearest town, approximately 6 miles from Porlock. Here you will find supermarkets and petrol stations (Tesco, Lidl and Morrison's are situated on the outskirts of the town and have longer opening hours), high street banks with cash machines, plus a range of other shops throughout the town.
There are many options for eating out in Porlock, there's 3 pubs and a selection of restaurants, plus 'Piggy in the Middle' is a lovely take-away too. For a special occasion, Reeves in Dunster is a short drive (about 25 minutes), it's a multi-award winning fine dining restaurant in this medieval village. Booking essential.
Many people come to Exmoor for the walking, and for good reason. But there are also lots of other interesting things to do, such as: - visting the 'picture postcard' villages of nearby Selworthy and Bossington - Lynton and Lynmouth's unique funicular railway - Horse riding on Exmoor - recommend Burrowhayes, between Porlock and Horner - seeking out the best cream tea from the many tea rooms dotted over the National Park - marvelling at the architecture of the ancient clapper bridge, Tarr Steps - exploring the medieval village of Dunster - and more!
Cherries is ideally placed for a walking holiday and accessing Porlock Bay; the start of the the nearby footpath network it's just 50 metres (approx) from the property, which leads along towards Porlock Weir and the South West Coastal Path, or in the opposite direction towards Bossington and Hurlestone Point. Hawkcombe is also a wonderful walk starting from the village, the woodland opens up into the open moorland the higher/further you go!
