Garden Cottage in Wiveliscombe (Somerset) is an unusual stone cottage suitable for up to 2 guests, tucked away in a leafy garden (access on foot through owners garden). Close to all amenities in the bustling town of Wiveliscombe and within 10 miles of Exmoor. Note - no oven, smart microwave only.
Garden Cottage has character in abundance, it's recently been fitted with new appliances and under-floor heating in the bathroom to make stays cosy and comfortable. The property comprises an upstairs double bedroom, and downstairs there is an open-plan living room with kitchen facilities and a bathroom with walk-in shower (no bath). Please note, there is NO OVEN. The kitchenette comprises of a smart microwave oven, fridge, single induction hob, kettle, toaster, tea pot, cafetière, a variety of cookware, utensils, cutlery, crockery and glasses. A television is provided for use with a BT Box via the internet. Wireless internet is available and a hair dryer provided. Electricity and heating costs are included in the price of your accommodation. Garden Cottage is heated by electric oil radiators in the two main rooms plus underfloor heating in the bathroom supplemented by an electric blow heater. Heating will be programmed for you but can be adjusted to suit your preferences if required. Bed linen, duvet, pillows, electric blanket and towels are provided, but please bring your own beach towels if you wish to take towels with you on day trips. Sorry, no dogs.

Garden Cottage is situated in the owners leafy garden in a secluded spot. There is not a designated outside area but garden furniture is provided for sitting outside in the gravel area outside the cottage which guests are most welcome to make use of. Furthermore, a barbecue and fire pit are available for use on request. Entrance to the property is through a side alley beside the owners house down a fairly steep semi-cobbled path, it's approximately 50 meters from the road to front door. The path is lit at night. But also advise to bring a torch!

Wiveliscombe has an excellent guidebook which offers two guided walks that helps you to discover the town and its history. You can step out of Garden Cottage and be in the countryside within 5 minutes of leaving the front door. A locally produced circular walk books provided 15 circular walks from the town square 5 minutes from the cottage. Walks range from three to twelve miles. There are 2 extended walks around Wiveliscombe. The Wivey way, 26 miles which can be shortened to two 13 mile walks. The Brendon Towers Way. 20 miles linking 8 old churches around Wiveliscombe Further afield and within easy reach there are excellent walks on Exmoor and the Quantocks. Many can be found in the Pathfinder guide 9, “Exmoor and the Quantocks”. Walk 17, Wills Neck, takes you to the highest point on the Quantocks starting from West Bagborough 11 miles away. Walk 21, Dunkery Beacon, takes you to the highest point on Exmoor. Start of the walk 17 miles away. The owners are keen walkers have explored the area extensively and are happy to offer suggestions on these and other walks. Guides are available in the cottage. The area is also renowned for cycling. There are some very beautiful rides across Exmoor and the surrounding hills. Whilst there are some quite easy rides for the experienced cyclist, many involve a lot of climbing and can be challenging. There are many cycle routes to follow and can be found on various websites. A good one is Komoot. The owner is a keen cyclist and can also provide advice
