The region
+ MoreWaterrow is ideally located to explore the Brendon Hills, the Quantocks, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, as well as Exmoor National Park. Waterrow boasts the historical Rock Inn, a 450 year old pub, serving excellent food. Wiveliscombe is the nearest town, it's a small ...town, situated approx 3 miles away. Wiveliscombe was once a thriving market town, today Wiveliscombe, known locally as Wivey, is a bustling town comprising pubs, restaurants and an interesting variety of independent shops and cafes. Bampton is 7 miles away just over the Devon border and again has good local shops, pubs and cafes. Taunton is the county town of Somerset, approx 13 miles from Waterrow.
Bampton lies on the edge of Exmoor National Park and has plenty to offer visitors in the form of various shops, pubs and restaurants. We can highly recommend a pub/restaurant called The Swan - the menu is outstanding and early booking is advisable to secure a table as well as the community restaurant called Spelt. Wivey is a friendly and thriving town, again on the edge of Exmoor, in the Brendon Hills. As well as coffee shops, chemist and convenience stores, Wivey boasts two fabulous pubs which are both different to each other. The Bear serves great traditional pub food, boasts a warm welcome and has the best bar staff ever! The White Hart offers stylish dining curating ever-changing menus from locally sourced products.
Local attractions and places of interest to visit are Tarr Steps; Exmoor Valleys, Wimbleball Lake, Lynton and Lynmouth, Dunster, Dulverton, Porlock Bay, Wellhayes Vineyard and Cheddar Gorge. If total relaxation is your aim, then why not pre-book a massage/therapy treatment which you can enjoy in the comfort of your own cottage. A local massage therapist has been coming to the cottages for some years now and she does give the best massage treatments! As owners, we have tried and tested the treatments and the therapist comes highly recommended. Again, early booking is essential and details of prices and treatments can be given on request.
There are plenty of walks within easy reach of the property. Each cottage has a brochure advising of the routes of walks. Minehead and Weston beaches are within 30 minutes drive as well as the north Devon coastline which boasts too many beaches to mention!
