Exmoor offers something increasingly rare: space to breathe, room to roam, and the kind of natural beauty that gets everyone off their phones and into the moment. Here’s why families keep coming back:

    • No traffic, no crowds – Ancient woodland walks where children can run free
    • Wildlife encounters – Red deer, Exmoor ponies, and abundant birdlife
    • Activities for all ages – From gentle coastal strolls to challenging moorland hikes
    • Traditional villages – Dunster Castle, cream teas, and proper village pubs

When to Book for School Holidays

Large properties get booked early – especially for school holidays. Here’s our advice:

    2026 School Holiday Dates (England)

    • February Half Term: 14-22 February 2026
    • Easter Holidays: 28 March – 12 April 2026
    • May Half Term: 23-31 May 2026
    • Summer Holidays: 18 July – 1 September 2026
    • October Half Term: 24 October – 1 November 2026
    • Christmas Holidays: 19 December 2026 – 4 January 2027

Book 6-12 months ahead for the largest properties (12+ guests) during school holidays. Properties sleeping 8-10 can sometimes be found 3-6 months out, but the best options go first.

Midweek arrivals often have better availability than Friday starts, and you might find the roads quieter too.
