The Hen House in Bideford, North Devon sleeps 6 in 3 bedrooms. Is is positioned on a quiet road at the end of a cul-de-sac yet only 10 minutes walk from the market town of Bideford. This property comes with chickens and a rabbit in a run in the back garden, where you can choose to interact or not!
Based in Bideford, North Devon, UK This 3 double bedroom ( 1 Superking and 2 Double beds ) property is at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac, yet just a 10 minute walk from the riverside town of Bideford. It has a family bathroom plus an en-suite and a downstairs toilet. Upstairs is a reading room/snug. Downstairs has a good size kitchen with breakfast bar. A dining room and a living room with a wood burner. Outside is a patio with a table and chairs, outside sofa, BBQ and chiminea. The rest of the garden is on a terrace, up some steps to the lawn. The house is a great option for animal lovers and children, as in the corner of the garden is the chicken run, where you can meet the chickens 🐥. Feed them and collect fresh eggs if you choose, or leave them to their own devices if you prefer. There is also a beautiful rabbit in there that loves a stroke 🐰 Close to the beautiful sandy beach at Westward Ho! and a short walk from the South West Coastal Path, there is plenty to do here. From paddle boarding in the river, surfing in the sea, walking the coast path or cycling the tarka trail - it's all a short distance away. For families, The Big Sheep, the Milky Way and the Wake park are a short drive away. *Security deposit* A refundable security deposit of £150 is required when booking this property, to cover the cost of possible damage during your stay. £150 will be added to the total price of your booking (itemised separately on the booking invoice). All things being well, this security deposit will be returned shortly after your departure providing there is no damage to the property or its contents.

The Hen House comprises of 4 rooms upstairs, plus the family bathroom and en-suite. The main room has a superking bed plus en-suite shower room. The 2nd and 3rd bedrooms are both large doubles. The 4th room is a snug or reading room with a sofa and bookcase. Downstairs, at the end of the hallway is the bright kitchen with a large fridge freezer, double oven and gas hob. There is a small breakfast bar which can seat 3 people and lots of cupboard space. The back door leads out to the garden patio. Next to the kitchen is the dining room with the oak table and 8 chairs. There are doors here leading also leading onto the patio. The living room is a good size with a large sofa and 3 chairs. There is a large TV with Sky and Netflix and a dual burning stove. A downstairs toilet is under the stairs.

The Hen Holiday House has a good sized, fully enclosed garden. The back doors lead onto the patio with a table and chairs for 6 guests. There is also a outdoor sofa and table to relax around, a chiminea and a BBQ. From the patio, there are steps leading up to the lawn, with a pond on the left. Next to the lawn, fairly discreetly is the chicken run with the chickens and rabbit. It is your choice as to whether you want to be involved with them or not, the are self contained and have everything they need, but if you would like to feed them, spend time with them and collect fresh eggs, you are more than welcome.

+ MoreThe house is walking distance to the market town of BIdeford, through the local park, with its many amenities including pubs, restaurants, shops, butchers, night clubs, etc It is close to the South West Coastal Path, linking Minehead to Poole. From here, you can walk towards ...the historic port of Appledore and beyond or to the seaside town of Westward Ho! You are spoilt for choice with the local beaches, the nearest being the 2 miles of golden sand at Westward Ho! and a sea pool. But just a short drive away are also Instow, jWoolacombe, Saunton Sands and Croyde.
Lots of pubs and restaurants in Bideford for food and drink. Also worth going to Westward Ho! for an incredible Thai or good pub food Just 20 minutes away in Barnstaple gives you so may more options.
The market town of Bideford is approximately 5 miles distant and offers an excellent range of restaurants, bars, cafes and shopping facilities. Nearby coastal villages are: Westward Ho! with over 2 miles of sandy beach and a seawater pool. The historic port of Appledore. Instow, with it’s estuary beach and home to North Devon yacht club. Clovelly, a picturesque fishing village Head along the coast towards Exmoor and the surfing beaches of Woolacombe, Croyde and Putsborough, plus the beautiful Saunton sands beach backed by Braunton burrows. Slightly further afield is the seaside resort of Ilfracombe with it’s dramatic cliff top scenery and the unique Tunnels beaches and Combe Martin with it’s sandy beach and rock pools. Head west to the rocky secluded cove at Bucks Mills, the cobbled streets and quay at Clovelly, famous for it’s donkeys, Hartland peninsular for clifftop walks and secluded beaches and into Cornwall to the traditional seaside town of Bude. The kids will be spoilt for things to do with the miles of sandy beaches, The Big Sheep, Milky Way and Wake Park all within a 20 minute drive. A bit further afield are Watermouth Theme Park and Castle, Combe Martin Wildlife and dinosaur park and Exmoor Zoo. Locally, the lovely Victoria park with the paddling pool and basketball, art gallery and cafe is just 5 minutes walk away and just slightly further on is the skate park. Try a day trip to the unspoilt island of Lundy home to seals and puffins. Boats can be taken from Bideford or Ilfracombe. For any keen golfers, Westward Ho! Has the oldest golf course in England overlooking the beach and sea. There are also good golf clubs at Torrington and Saunton. Want some exercise? The Atlantic racquet centre offers tennis, badminton and table tennis. The 180 miles of Tarka trail is great for both walkers and cyclists. Other nearby places of interest are Tapely Park near Instow, RHS Rosemoor and Dartington Crystal visitor centre both near Great Torrington.
A short walk to reach the South West Coastal Path to take you along towards Appledore or Westward Ho! Westward Ho! is just 2.5 miles away with over 2 miles of sandy beach and a seawater pool. Further along the coast are the sandy beaches of Woolacombe, Croyde, Putsborough and Saunton Sands
