Little Haven holiday cottage in Alcombe, near Minehead, is tucked away in 'old Alcombe', at the foot of Grabbist hill and on the edge of Exmoor National Park, is this delightful Grade II listed thatched country cottage. A self-catering cottage in Somerset which is dog-friendly and sleeps 4 guests.
Little Haven is packed full of charm and character and makes for a fantastic countryside getaway, yet still within the reaches of the town and local amenities. The sitting room with dining area is the main downstairs room, with gas stove. The bathroom is also downstairs, comprised of bath with shower over, toilet and hand basin. Upstairs are the two double bedrooms, both with King-sized beds and vaulted ceilings showing the old beams of the property. Appliances and equipment The kitchen is equipped with an electric oven and hob, a microwave, a slimline dishwasher, a washer/dryer and a refrigerator. There is a freezer in the cupboard under the stairs. Other equipment includes toaster, kettle, a variety of cookware, kitchen utensils, cutlery, crockery and glasses. A smart television (with Freeview), DVD player and CD player is provided in the living room and wireless broadband is available throughout the property. A hairdryer, iron and iron board are also provided for your convenience. Cot and high chair A cot and/or high chair is available; please request these items when booking so we can make sure they are present for your arrival. Electricity and heating Electricity and heating costs are included in the price of your accommodation. The cottage is fitted with night storage heaters plus there is gas stove in the sitting room which is very effective to top up the temperature if required. There are also electric radiators in the kitchen and bathroom. Linen and towels Bed linen, duvets, blankets and towels are provided for your convenience, but please bring your own beach towels if you wish to take towels with you on day trips. Bed linen is not supplied for the cot. Other provisions Tea, coffee, sugar, milk and biscuits/cake are provided to ensure you can have a hot drink as soon as you arrive. There may also be other non-perishable items like a salt, pepper, oil and a few herbs or spices available. Cleaning materials such as washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets and surface cleaner will be present in the property. One or two toilet rolls will be provided. Outside the property Little Haven's garden is private and enclosed and sits to the side of the property. Directly outside the kitchen door is a patio area with table and chairs, this is a lovely sheltered spot to enjoy your breakfast when the sun is shining. There are a couple of steps from the patio up to the lawn, which is slightly sloping and a footpath leads up to the second patio area at the top of the garden, with further table and chairs and a kettle barbecue. Please note, the barbecue can only be used in top patio area due to the cottage having a thatched roof. There is also a lockable shed for bikes etc, to the rear of the property and outside taps with both warm and cold water. Parking There is no designated parking for Little Haven, however there is a parking bay opposite the cottage that is generally shared between Little Haven and next door. There is also roadside parking nearby. Dogs Dogs are welcome by prior arrangement (maximum of 2). A supplementary fee of £15 will be added to your invoice per dog. Please do not allow your dogs on the furniture or upstairs and do not leave them alone in the property at any time. Dog beds are available within the property to save you bringing your own, please let us know when booking if these are required. Smoking Little Haven is strictly non-smoking. Local amenities Just 1/2 mile away on Alcombe Road (A39) is a Co-operative mini-supermarket. The Britannia Inn is the nearest pub, approx 1/4 mile from Little Haven; they serve good pub food and are family and dog friendly. Also within walking distance is Alcombe Fish & Chip Bar on Brook Street (take away only) which is just beyond The Britannia. Alcombe is on the outskirts of Minehead, which is West Somerset's main town. Tesco and Morrison's are both situated on the outskirts of the town (towards the sea front), they both have petrol stations and cash machines. Several high street banks are situated in The Parade, and there is a range of other shops, cafes and restaurants throughout the town. Dunster is also nearby (2 miles); a bustling village comprised of several buildings of historical interest, plus a good selection of restaurants, pubs and tea rooms, and a range of independent shops. Minehead Beach (1 mile) is dog friendly between September and May, and Dunster Beach (2 miles) is dog friendly all year. Arrival and departure The property will be ready from 4 pm on the day of your arrival. Please depart by 10 am on the last day of your stay. Please leave the property clean and tidy so that we can guarantee it will be ready on time for our next guests. Changeover days Little Haven is available for week-long bookings, short breaks are available.
