If you want a holiday of bright lights, late nights and bustling highstreets… this is probably not the spot for you. The Doone Valley & ‘Lorna Doone’

Malmsmead sits where the small rivers of Oare and Badgworthy (Badgery) meet. Follow Badgery Water upriver to access the beautiful Doone Valley. This area was the focal point for author R. D. Blackmore, in his novel ‘Lorna Doone‘. Published in 1869, this romance is based on historical characters, set in the late 17th century. Wander to the medieval village of Hoccombe Combe and the water slide at Lank Combe, as featured in the novel.
